Startling format, Ginnie, but you have made it work beautifully.
Bullrushes are one of my favourite grasses, and you show it off elegantly.
Ginnie: Glad you like it, Ray. It was a fun idea for me, to try something new in my old age. HA!
I've never heard that expression before Ginnie
Ginnie: Which expression, Chris? Vertical letterbox?! HA! Well, neither have I but it made sense to me.
Very Nice & Simple , good framing
Ginnie: Nice and simple is what we like sometimes, Saeed.
toute en hauteur, ta photo est splendide
Ginnie: Thanks a million, O-P.
Why can't you Americans call things by their correct name. Ginnie, say after me ''These are bullrushes.''
richard
Ginnie: HAHAHA. Well, Richard, some people think we Americans don't know English, so there you have it.
Nice format, you see the rush -proud and elegant- rising. Although there may be a soft breeze moving a bit the water, nothing can shake the 'cattail' and it keeps standing like number one! Let's follow that!
Ginnie: That means we have a lot to learn from this cattail/bullrush, Philine!
I love cattails. When I was younger I wanted to collect them for arrangements. Now, I realize they're most beautiful growing where they emerge. Lovely capture.
Ginnie: I DID collect these and add to floral arrangements, Sherri, so I know what you mean. Now I just admire them from afar or close up in their natural environments. It's just been lately that I've seen them go to seed like this.
Cool format - suites the subject very well - great light again
Ginnie: It was fun to try, Aksel. Thanks.
Nice view and frame!
Ginnie: Thanks, Arash!
Lol@ Richard. I've never sen one before Bullrush or Cattail!
Ginnie: HA! We speak the same language and still have different names for things!
Great shot Ginnie, funny thing is I took someof these the other day whilst out on one of my walks... Made me smile
Like the crop. Have a great day
Ginnie: HAPPY BIRTHDAY, Lady! YOU have a great day!!!
aww ginnie
this really works
Ginnie: Glad it works for you, DrAW.
I like the result of this cut.
Ginnie: So glad you like it, José-Angel. It was a fun crop.
We have in German the fig. phrase "ein schwankendes Rohr im Winde"/"a swaying rush in the wind", but your pic has a quite other meaning!
Ginnie: I love your German phrases, Philine, when they fit or not.
This is delightful Ginnie. I like the vertical letterbox format. It looks like a painting.
Ingrid
Ginnie: Awww. So glad you like it, Ingrid. It made me smile.
Oh .. looks like an radio tower .. of nature ;-) - Good compostition and fine crop.
Ginnie: Nature's radio tower! I like that, Klaus!!!
*sigh*....even that I saw you take this picture, you always surprise me, meer dan je weet, with the beauty you have shown with this kattenstaart, I love the rumpling (?) of the water, the little waves, the sky was dark, full of rain, it has the same colour of the sky that day.
Love the format very much, it is perfect and you did proud on the kattenstaart.
Ginnie: I love how we surprise each other all the time, Astrid, while on our photo hunts together.
great crop
Ginnie: Thanks, Chantal.
I was hoping Ray would see this and he was first in line. Wonderful with the rippley background.
Ginnie: Yes, that Ray comes early on, doesn't he.
Terrific crop and image of the humble bullrush.
Ginnie: That humble bullrush sure knows how to stand tall! Thanks, Aussie.
I don't know about a vertical letterbox either. I hope you'll tell. Is it a PS format?
Ginnie: Oh, Ruth! You've given me quite the smile this morning.
A cattail or a bullrushes I have not seen either. good photo but
Ginnie: WOW! Does that mean you don't have them in Australia, Vintage?????
Yes, it could be a PS/letterbox or newspaperbox format, as seen at buildings of the Amsterdamse school (Spaarndammerplamtsoen )!
Ginnie: So that means I wasn't far off then, Philine.
Very good take on the capture. Nice
Ginnie: Thank you kindly, S&S.
Great way to present this "bullrush" Ginnie, it really emphasises the height of one of these plants.
Ginnie: It stood there so tall and brave, Brian. I'm glad its height is emphasized.
Beautiful capture Ginnie. The format suits it very well!
Ginnie: Thank you kindly, Richard.
Excellent!! The narrow letterbox crop works perfectly for me. LOL at Richard! He forgets the USA is only a couple of hundred years old...barely out of nappies...sorry diapers
Ginnie: HA! You're so right, Bill. The list goes on and on, I'm afraid. It's almost like another language altogether.
A beautiful shot of nature. I like it!
Ginnie: Thank you kindly, Still. I have always loved cattails!
Beautiful plant and very unusual aspect ratio. Nice !
Ginnie: Just had to try it, Carsten.
This photo made me think of one thing that most of your pictures have...and that thought came to me right now...No matter what the subject is, you are always able to capture its inner elegance...
Ginnie: How do you always know what to say to make my day, Lina! Thank you.
