Even in Hawaii
Here's another week of impressions from Hawaii when we were there recently for my daughter's wedding on June 1.
HA! You knew I'd find them but did you expect them on Waikiki Beach?? (as seen one morning from our hotel balcony on the 15th floor) [Today I'm in Amsterdam.]

Well, ya gotta stack those sun-worshipers somewhere!
Ginnie: HA! So true, Larry, so true!
Wooowww.... the good photograph.
The dramatic cloud in a blue manner that was beautiful. The development was everywhere, may the process of this development continue to give space for the tree to grow. I love your the photograph. Regards from Yogyakarta Indonesia.
Ginnie: I'm such a glutton for clouds like this, Bram, truth be known. The cranes were just frosting on the cake.
They're definitely doing quite a bit of building there. I suppose that's a good indication. I see you're in Amsterdam. I can't keep track of you. Does your back door have a bridge from Atlanta to Amsterdam? lol...just kidding you. Sounds wonderful.
Ginnie: We're in AMS every month, Sherri, back-n-forth, because of Donica's work. That's why I always mention where we are because it's confusing sometimes to even me.
A long time ago when I realized cranes were everywhere and would not be leaving any time soon, I decided to embrace them and let them become part of the art!
You must have been a very happy camper when you spotted these, it is a fabulous sky over Hawaii, never realised there could be those 'Holland' like clouds there too,
Great composition, great colours and border to finish it off.
Ginnie: Precies, Astrid. Holland clouds in Hawaii...but it never rained. And almost immediately the sun would be out full blast. I LOVED the clouds. Holland has rubbed off on me!
A matching pair, with one at the side for interest. Those clouds look great.
Ginnie: And in Holland orange! How fun. I just started smiling.
An impressive pair of machines for sure.
That's an amazing sky.
Ginnie: Every time I saw the sky like this, Paul, I thought of Holland. It was wonderful. Thanks.
Mechanical Marvels Ginnie
Ginnie: I know, Vintage. I'm getting so used to them!
quel chantier!
Ginnie: Yes, O-P. It totally surprised me to see it there. Merci.
Reminds me of a hotel in Spain we stayed in, looking out from the balcony would have been paradise for you Ginnie think we counted over 30. Nice one.
Ginnie: OMG! That would have been Crane Heaven, Scotia.
Knowing you, you would have found a windmill too
Ginnie: HAHAHAHAHAHAHA! You just made my day, Bill. Thank you!!
The sun is catching the crane just right Ginnie and high lighting it with the dark skies behind.
Lovely shot as usual. Enjoy yourself Musketeer
Ginnie: You know me, Musketeer! I love stuff like this.
Crane family on a beach vacation, I would think, Ginnie.
Well caught, with that gorgeous sky behind.
Ginnie: Even the cranes want to go to Hawaii, Ray!
Un espace de béton, plus de plage, plus de vert, mais il reste un morceau de ciel, belle photo de ville.
Ginnie: I guess even the cranes want to get in on the Hawaiian action and beauty, Ceanothe! Merci.
They look wonderful with the light on them against that dark sky.
Ingrid
Ginnie: How could I resist them, Ingrid, right?!
I t5hink they're everywhere. Ginnie. Love the clouds.
Ginnie: They ARE everywhere, for sure, Mary! So we might as well include them in our photos, right?!
Not the type of clouds I'd expect to see in Hawaii.
Ginnie: I know, Bernie. That's what I thought, too! It's good to see you again, BTW.
Wow!
'If you build it..they will come????' Pretty dense for a beach!
Ginnie: I totally agree, Marcie. This is not my idea of what a beach should look like, but then, it had it's own beauty, to be sure. I couldn't complain!
Not a "Hawaii" view as one might expect, I'm afraid.
Ginnie: Precies, Wim!
A pleasing cityscape showing the realities of expansion. I like the detail and cubed-look of the buildings.
Ginnie: I guess they'll keep building if people keep coming, right?! Thansk, Don.
Yes the nature is beautyfull, what people do not always ;-)
Ginnie: We just smile, don't we, Klaus!
I love the way the low sunlight catches the cranes on top of those foreboding skies
Ginnie: That morning was perfect in every way, Padraig, when I saw this. Thank you.
Three cranes in one shot. I bet you couldn't resist shooting it Ginnie!
The lighting is superb here.
Ginnie: You know me well, Richard! I can never resist cranes.
amazing backdrop for urban capture, well done
Ginnie: Can't live with them; can't live without them. So I've grown to love them, Viktor.
Crikey, Ginnie, it looks as if they are still building the place. This does not look like paradise.
Ginnie: That's what it looks like, Chad, and it really surprised me! Thanks.
Interseting shot Ginnie ... strong positive colours. I'd have cropped out just a smidgin above that horizontal roof line
Ginnie: Thanks, Richard, and that's a good suggestion. Don't know why I didn't think of it myself!
I guess you cant stop "progress"
Ginnie: No, you can't, Kanyi, at least not without suffering the consequences. Thanks.
great sky, great light and a great composition
Ginnie: Thank you, kind sir!!
Wow! That's a lot of construction going on. Hope it wasn't noisy in your apartment. Hmm...or maybe it was, for other reasons!
Ginnie: HA! Well, we never heard the construction, Alex, because of the sound of the ocean (which is out of the image on the left). In fact, we never saw this construction while out and about...only when we turned to look while on the balcony. Thanks.
Oh dear, the not so nice side of this paradise Ginnie, however I like the depth of the colours and the crane stands out really well against the forbidding sky.
Ginnie: As I have said before, Brian, we can't live with them and we can't live without them...so might as "join" them, right?! Thanks.
Nice sky and great composition
Ginnie: Thank you kindly, Zohre.
Well, not quite the Hawaii of my dreams but a stunning shot. Progress in Paradise
Ginnie: Progress in Paradise. I like that Gingeybaby!
Razor sharp.
Ginnie:
They're everywhere Ginnie!
Ginnie: Yes, they are, Chris. And I'm guessing there's not a thing we can do about it.
Ahhaahh! I see that at Hawaii the real estate crisis has not arrived!
Ginnie: You are right, José Angel. I thought the same thing! Thanks.
AAAAHHHHHHHHHH ... construction. There has been a lot of it here in Albuquerque.
Ginnie: All over the world, Helen! Everywhere.
I thought for a minute the 'sun-worshippers' was ray, but then it was Larry. Imagine you had to fly all the way to Hawaii and book into an expenise hotel to get this picture. The lengths you will go to
Ginnie: I know, Louis. The ironies of life!
I know you like them, me too - like the holes of blue in the sky too
Ginnie: Just gotta get them whenever and wherever I can, Aksel.
