Joey
I had hoped like the dickens to get a shot of a kangaroo while in Australia but never once thought I'd be so lucky
to get one with a joey included, on Magnetic Island. Okay, so this is a rock wallaby, but it's a kangaroo as far as I'm concerned! Even though this is out "in the wild," unaccessible by car, the tour guides always bring food pellets, just so we tourists can see them up close and personal. [Today I'm in Amsterdam.]

I see you made some local friends. I'd love to see one of these close up. Very nicely done!

Oh - very sweet Ginnie!
Ginnie:
Very nice of them to pose so perfectly for you Ginnie. This is a very neat way to carry your baby around!
Ingrid
Ginnie: They were timid at first, Ingrid, but it didn't take long for them to warm up to us. Must have been the food pellets!
Superb shot Ginnie, you have captured them beautifully.
Ginnie: Thanks, Aussie. You can be so proud.
So cute !!! I would like to take the baby's place ... Nice details too !!!
Ginnie: Awwwww. I understand the joey stays in the pouch for up to 6 months, Ann. Talk about cozy.
Beautiful capture Ginnie. I like that they have the same attitude!
Ginnie: Like mother, like daughter, Richard!
This looks like being cute pic of the day Ginnie. Delightful
Ginnie: Being cute is sometimes what it's all about, Bill!
Lovely shot, mother and baby
I like the sharpness and tones in this photo.
Ginnie: Thanks a million, Arash!
Wow, very beautiful and sharp.
Ginnie: It was a delight to behold, Cako!
I saw lots of kangaroos there but the only joey was wrapped in a towel and placed in a backpack worn around the front of a wildlife park staff. It was very interesting to see them copying the deceased mother.
Ginnie: WOW! That sure is interesting, Mary. Makes sense to me!
Must be nearly time to leave home, Ginnie - or be kicked out.
Ginnie: HA! Surely you are right, Chad. He seemed quite able to fend for himself when it came to picking up those pellets!
how sweet this is
Ginnie: I thought so, too, Chantal.
It hops so its a kangaroo Ginnie
Ginnie: Exactly, Chris.
How great that you got to meet mother and child like this. Must have been exhilerating! Great shot!
Ginnie: Exhilarating is a good word, Ruth. That it was!
supercute!!
Ginnie: I know.
Great photo Ginnie,Maybe one of us Australians can post real Kangaroo I dont have a photo but I will try
Ginnie: You do that for me, Vintage, and I'll be a happy camper. I DID get some kangaroos at the Sydney zoo, but this was so much more exciting.
This is the kind of shot I don't even try to comment...I just stare and smile...and smile...and smile... (you're becoming my private smilemaker
Ginnie: You are getting everywhere fast, Lina. Don't stop.
Isn't that precious?! Excellent capture even if you didn't have to risk your life with lions and tigers
Ginnie: HA! Not one dangerous second was to be found on that outing, Sherri. It was totally charming. Thanks.
*chuckle* Ginnie, that's absolutely gorgeous, I'm in raptures here.
Ginnie: You know how to make my day, Ellie.
I like them - don't think I've seen one for real - bet I would like it....
Good focus
Ginnie: I bet you would, too, Aksel.
Just love it, it is a wonderful sight to see these 4 eyes stare into the world, I love the expression.....I hoped like the dickens....well for the dickens...you are one lucky lady..
Ginnie: It was something I'll never forget, lieve Astrid. The Universe seemed to be smiling on me that day.
Great shot Ginnie, how lucky to get the Joey as well. This particular animal looks quite a small breed. (From the animal here and my surname guess what my unwanted nickname was at school?)
Ginnie: Awwww. You poor thing, Brian. But I can think of worse things to be called, definitely!!!
Always nice to see some local animals when you travel.
You are a lucky traveler Ginnie
Ginnie: I feel very lucky, Magnus. Very! Thanks.
A wonderful capture of a kind animal.
Ginnie: Thank you kindly, Still.
Beautiful and great details here ! Bravo !
Ginnie: Kinda like your squirrels in India, Zeb, almost.
Have you tried joey steaks while in Oz. My friend says it is great - but when I see them in pictures, they look like overgrown rats. I don't eat rat under normal circumstances
Great marsupial picture
Ginnie: No, Louis, I never tried joey steaks! Or crocodile meat or anything else. Just lamb!!!
Superb capture, very sharp well exposed well done.
Ginnie: Thank you kindly, Scotia, for stopping by and commenting. Welcome to SC!
Still a nice portrait even if it was a bit orchestrated.
Ginnie: Thanks, Nigel. Now you know why I was so excited to kind the koala on my own in the wild. No food pellets to entice it!
Very well captured, she is watching you closely!
Ginnie: Yes, Monika, she WAS watching me closely. But she noticed that I was not interested at all in her food, so started to trust me.
Thank your for the Kangaroo shot. Remember? I asked for it...and you gave it too us. Beautiful!
Ginnie: No, I didn't remember, Fausto, but now that you say it, I'm so glad I could do it for YOU as well as for me.
