Lucky Bell, Lucky Day
Lucky Bells on a shopping street in Seoul, South Korea, in May.
Today is Friday the 13th, my birthday! In 63 years, this will make my 10th Friday-the-13th birthday. I have never had an unlucky Friday-the-13th birthday! Today I have surgery to remove a "bucket-handle" meniscus tear in my left knee. I feel lucky with my Lucky Bell! [Today I'm in Atlanta.]

These bells are great. Love the colors...and especially love the reflective ornament in the middle. Nice!!!
And - HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! Hope it's special. It'll definitely be lucky!
Ginnie: I feel so very lucky, Marcie, even without this Lucky Bell.
Happy birthday Ginnie remember to start walking and lots of movement of that knee,or you will get a stiff joint.Advice from somebody who has been on both sides of the knife.
Ginnie: Your advice is well-taken, dear Vintage! My problem may be in over-doing it, so I will make sure I find out from the doctor what I CAN'T do before my stitches come out. I know me. I will not let anything hold me down.
Happy birthday, Ginnie. It's a lovely lucky photo and I hope your recovery goes smoothly.
Ginnie: Your birthday wishes and recovery thoughts mean a lot, Larry. Thank you kindly.
Happy Birthday and I hope the surgery goes well. I love these bells and your image is exceptional.
Ginnie: I feel very celebrated today, Sherri. Thank you for your part!
happy b-day, dear. wish you well with the surgery. Hope one day you'll play soccer again.
Ginnie: HA! I will definitely play soccer again, dear VZ.
Another postcard
Vintage you know our Gin will walk around a lot, so no problems there, photographer that she is!
Ginnie: You are a sweetheart, Yinks. And you are so right. Nothing will hold me down. THANK YOU.
Love the image, Ginnie.
Happy birthday. Hope the surgery doesn't keep you away from your camera.
Ginnie: You know me, Ray. I'm just as bad as you!
Van harte gefeliciteerd met jouw verjaardag, Happy Birthday Ginnie.
These Bells are ontzettend mooi, they look like they have also the most beautiful sound to give, great processing here, great framing too, I think you came short of eyes in that magnificent Palace you visited. Heel veel sterkte with your surgery.....I already know what the doctor will prescribe just like Vintage said....'fly to Holland asap and go on picture hunts with somebody who lives there and walk, walk and walk and you will be a happy camper in no time'
Ginnie: Ontzettend bedankt, lieve Astrid, voor jouw verjaardags groeten. You know that nothing will hold me down. If anything, I will have to make sure I don't over-do it too soon. In a week's time I will be back in AMS to walk, walk, walk again with someone who will help me get back to full strength. And I will indeed be a happy camper.
Happy birthday Ginnie!
Ginnie: Thanks a million, dear Chris!
Fantastic bells Ginnie and wishing you a fantastic birthday despite the op.
Ginnie: With all these birthday greetings, I already feel recovered, Aussie...before the operation!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!! Hope all goes well with the operation....did anyone buy you a jumper for your birthday
Ginnie: HA! You sure gave me a laugh, Bill, trying to figure that one out! The day's not over yet, of course, so who knows if a jumper is yet in the forecast. I 'spect yours is all I'll get, but it's enough. Thank you kindly.
Happy birthday Ginnie, and I wish you success with the Op, and as little discomfort as possible.
I think this is a wonderful photograph. The subject matter, lighting and perspective are superb.
Ginnie: You're a sweetheart, Paul. Thank you so much. The surgery isn't until 1p my time here in Atlanta, which is 5 hours from now. But I expect it to go off without any hitch.
Happy Birthday, good luck with the op and I like your tone
Ginnie: Thank you and thank you, dear Nigel.
Happy birthday Ginnie. I love the tones here.
I hope the surgery goes well and that you'll recover soonest.
Ginnie: That means a lot to me, Richard. Thank you kindly.
The bells will ring for you today Ginnie
Good luck with the surgery, but I know you wont need it. Love the processing and the framing. I would like to see the person who tried to hold you down HAPPY BIRTHDAY
Ginnie: You are so right, lieve Tracy. It would take a lot to hold me down. In no time at all I'll be taking those long walks with you! Thank you, lieve vriend.
Happy Birthday Ginnie! The bells are awesome, the colors you've managed to get there are spectacular. Your birthday is 2 days before mine! Wish the best of luck to you on your surgery. I'll be looking forward to more photos!
Ginnie: Another Gemini! I should have known. So Happy Birthday to you, too, Brian. Thank you much for your own best wishes.
Happy Birthday Ginnie - I see you are a Gemini like Blackdog - it's his birthday tomorrow too. Love the tones and the selective focus on the photograph.
Ingrid
Ginnie: Yes, Ingrid, and as you know, Gemini rule!
Hi Ginnie, beautiful one !!!
Ginnie: Thanks for stopping by and commenting, Frederic.
The very best of luck today, Ginnie, hope it goes swimmingly for you.
Ginnie: Thank you, kind sir. I expect nothing but the best!
love the sepia tone
Ginnie: Thank you, Chantal.
I like the bells, nice capture. HAPPY BIRTHDAY, its my cousins birthday today also and he's just finished safely a six month tour in Basra, Iraq, So I agree, friday 13th isn't all bad! Good luck with your knee I hope all goes well and you recover quickly.
Ginnie: I'm so glad your cousin also has had a good Friday the 13th, Padraig. Thank you for your nice wishes!
Happy birthday Ginnie!Have a good day
Ginnie: Thanks a million, Zohre.
Nice one Ginnie, great DOF!
Ginnie: Thank you, kind sir.
Happy, Happy Birthday and regarding the surgery, I hope you can remember the day. Those drugs to make you forget sure work on me.
Ginnie: HA! I guess they make them for a reason, Mary. But after awhile, I usually like to "feel the pain" (I'm weird, I know) so that I know I'm healing. But then, I'm a redhead and have a higher tolerance for it.
Ha Ginnie I've just worked out that I'm just a few weeks younger than you
By the way bad luck has nothing to to do with certain days, ladders, black cats and the numerous other things that are used to suggest the notion. You bring/make your own luck and ... well I need say no more. Make sure you blow all the candles out in one blow. richard
Ginnie: I totally agree with you about bad luck, Richard. I think that's why I never had any bad Friday-the-13ths. I am always intentional about a positive approach to life, every day. I think you attract what you "intend."
So, we are partners in age! I like that.
Ginnie, I would like to touch one bell after the other in order to strike up a beautiful song for you: "Happy birthday...', whatever you are wishing for yourself and your dears, it may get fulfilled... Today I think of you with the best wishes that the surgery goes well! (And I can imagine your knee-situation)
Ginnie: You sure know how to make my day, lieve Philine! I can hear the music of your bells and am enthralled. Thank you.
Happy birthday and all the best, Ginnie !
Ginnie: I love it, Carsten. Thank you.
Happie Birthday!!! Wish u lots happy more years to come. And all d best with the op x
Ginnie: Thanks a million, Èbùn, for stopping by and commenting. That means a lot.
Hope your knee mends ok Ginnie, and the bells work their magic for you. A happy Birthday as well.
Ginnie: Thank you, Les. I expect a "perfect" recovery and will do my best to make it happen.
Happy Birthday! What a bummer that you are having surgery on your birthday!
See you soon!
Ginnie: WOW! WILMA! Thank you so much for stopping by and commenting. You have totally made my day!
Happy Birthday Ginnie, caught up with me until July! Hope all goes well with knee. Nice picture by the way, love the toning. have a restful weekend. Brian.
Ginnie: The surgery is now done, Brian, and I am back home. So now the recovery will happen and before I know, I'll be back to normal with a better knee...for all those photo hunts to come. Thanks.
This is very nice! Good DOF and great tones.
Ginnie: Thanks, Martin. The lucky bells worked because I am now back home after surgery and will now be on the mend.
Happy Birthday Ginnine good luck today. Lovely image I like the way you have presented this.
Ginnie: Thanks a million, Scotia. The surgery is done and I'm back home, getting ready to do my first exercises. I have already walked upstairs.
C'est tellement criant de vérité que l'on entend sonner les cloches !
Ginnie: I like that, Ceanothe. Thank you.
Hey, Ginnie - here's ringing your 'lucky' bell and hoping the surgery goes well. Have a great weekend.
Ding! Ding!
Ginnie: You rang my bell and it worked, Alex!
Many, many, many, many, many, many, many, many, many, many, many, many, many, happy returns Ginnie XXXXX Chris
Fine picture too
Ginnie: You are such a sweetheart, Chris. Thank you. (I think you stopped before you got to 63, however.
A magnificent detail. Crop very good. But what I more like shining bleaching maintaining a very homogeneous general tone!
Ginnie: I've been in a toning-down mode lately, José Angel.
Opss! Just a moment! What I am reading! It is your birthday! Wow!
"Happy, happy in your day, small friend God bless you, who reigns La Paz in your day and which you are very happy! " P.D.: What is in inverted commas is the literal translation of a song that is sung in some places of Spain to congratulate the years! You must add music: D FELIZ, FELIZ EN TU DIA, AMIGUITA QUE DIOS TE BENDIGA, QUE REINE LA PAZ EN TU DÍA Y QUE SEAS MUY FELIZ!!!
Ginnie: I love it, José Angel. You were one of two people who actually sang to me on my birthday! My sister from Chicago also sang.
Another surreal shot - thanks, and happy birthday, Alix and Brian
Ginnie: Thanks a million, Alix and Brian. I had a good, "normal" day.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY GINNIE AND GOOD LUCK WITH THE SURGERY, My darling friend I miss you dearly and really can't wait to see you again! Was looking through our amsterdam shots and miss you dearly. Please keep in touch!!!
Ginnie: LADY! How good to see you back! The surgery was done before it was scheduled to start because the doctor came early. It took only 1/2 hour. I have had no pain to speak of and was able to climb up and down the stairs the minute I got home. I'm a happy camper. It made for a very nice birthday (even though Donica is in China right now!). Thank you so much for stopping by again.
Oh by the way, love the image, it makes me so want to start blogging again!
Ginnie: Just do it, Lady! Just do it.
Happy Birthday and hopefully many more to come. Take it slow after your surgery too. Your picture here is beautiful. The way you framed and composed this shot is what makes this one so lovely. The tones and DOF are perfect, really a great job on this image. South Korea, you really do get around Ginnie.
Ginnie: I am being forced to go slowly, John, because of the pain. UGH. But I assume it will only get easier with each passing day. Thank you for your kind comment, in every way. I am very lucky to get around as much as I do!
Lovely polished shot andnice narrative. Hope you had another lucky Friday 13th
Ginnie: It was indeed lucky, Daniel, in that the surgery was successful. No pain on THAT day...but I sure do have it now.
Happy birthday
I love the sound of bells hanging out in the wind. Very nice tones of colour in this pic
Ginnie: I love that sound, too, Aksel. The music of the spheres!
Happy Birthday Ginnie
I hope you feel lucky everyday. Have a good surgery, I know It's nothing for you.
Ginnie: Actually, Arash, I DO feel lucky every day, in spite of the pain. Very lucky. Thanks!
What a date for a surgery - on your birthday. Can't say happy birthday, because it hardly will be. Congratulations will still be in order - so congratulations. My guess is 36 years old
I hope the surgery went well and you won't be out of circulation too long. Great picture, like selective colours but on gold i.s.o. b&w.
Ginnie: On Friday I was on top of the world with no pain whatsoever, Louis. But it hit me like a ton of bricks after 26 hours, when the anesthesia wore off. UGH. Oh well. I keep saying, "this, too, shall pass." Thanks for your concern. Every day should get better and better!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY GINNIE!!! (sorry for the delay...too much work in the end of the school term) Let me send you a big candle-kiss for you to blow and make a wish
(It was funny to discover that your birthday is a dau before mine I hope that your surgery goes well and that you have a fast recover! If your bells are as magic as they are wonderful, than everything will be alright!
Ginnie: I should have known we were fellow Gemini, Lina! Sure makes sense to me. So, what year were YOU born?? How many candles??
The surgery has been harder than I expected but that's probably because I over-did it the first 26 hours when I felt no pain! Now I'm making up for that. But "this too shall pass," so each day is getting better. Thank you for your birthday AND recovery wishes! Happy Birthday to you, too!!
Awesome shot. Writing this comment was difficult coz I didn't want to stop staring at this and scroll down to write
Ginnie: You sure know how to make my day, Thomas!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY GINNIE.
The health blessing from the Lord always was with you. Godbless you, Ginnie. Regards From Yogyakarta Indonesia.
Ginnie: You sure know how to make my day, Bram. Thank you.
