Surf's Up
This is a short series of impressions from Hawaii when we were there recently for my daughter's wedding on June 1. I couldn't resist this for Friday! This was taken from our 15th-floor hotel balcony, looking down on Waikiki Beach. [Today I'm in Atlanta, flying to Amsterdam tomorrow.]

Ginnie, we VERY impressed
Ginnie: Nothing like impressing the Subster and the Missus!
This is great! Love the perspective from which you captured this.
Very creative...nice image!
Ginnie: It was so fun to watch her walk by from so far away and then get out the camera and zoom in on her.
Very cool, Ginnie. Great perspective for this shot.
Ginnie: It sure was fun to zoom in on her, Red Pen.
Terrific image Ginnie, great perspective. I have enough trouble juggling the handbag at times, let alone a surfboard at the same time
Ginnie: I was thinking the same thing, Aussie, when I saw her purse up on the screen. Never saw it while taking the picture. How fun. Thanks.
That's a great graphical shot, Ginnie!
Ginnie: It was really fun to zoom in on her, Martin, from so high up.
I like the way the water invades the frame and almost catches the surfer.
Ginnie: I had another image I almost used where the water did NOT come in like this but decided I liked this one better. So thanks, Larry, for agreeing.
Fabulous, Ginnie.
The common two-legged long-board, in its natural habitat.
Ginnie: And a VERY natural habitat it was, Ray.
All the elements lined up for this one... veeery nice Ginnie
Ginnie: All the stars and all the elements both, Hamilton.
Een geweldig goede foto om het weekend mee te beginnen.
When I saw this as a thumbnail I thought of Delfs Blue....this is a ontzettend goede foto, meer dan je weet, a great composition, great perspective, I had to laugh at Aussie's comment. Een goede vlucht naar Nederland, mijn lieve vriend.
Ginnie: I knew that design reminded me of something, Astrid! Why didn't I remember what??!! I'm quite sure there is a Delft surfboard to be seen somewhere in the world...maybe even in Hawaii! Wouldn't THAT be fun to see!
Thanks for your wishes for my travel tomorrow. I was finally able to get a direct flight, as you know, so I'll be there before I know it! See you soon on YOUR side of the pond!
Great timing here along with a super capture. Water placed very well. Friday is a great day to post this one well done.
Ginnie: It was so fun to zoom in on this moment in time, Scotia!
Am really digging ur Hawaii series of shots DUDE!!
Ginnie: Awww. You know how to make my day.
Excellent and no sign of vertigo!
Ginnie: HA! No vertigo from THIS Musketeer, Bill.
I love the position of her left foot and the water. The clear and the foamy.
Ginnie: It felt like the ocean was telling a different story every time I looked down, Helen. I loved that POV!
A nice perspective and an unusual capture of a surfer! I like the 'runners' of the breakers and the shadow of the surf-board!
Ginnie: That surfboard shadow was what I most loved about this image, Philine...beside the design on the surfboard facing me.
Great angle. I love the diagonal composition, the shadow and that bit of palm in the corner.
Ingrid
Ginnie: It really made my day, Ingrid.
what isn't there to like about this shot? I particularly like the perspective though
Ginnie: You are such a sweetheart, Padraig! Thank you kindly.
Ginnie I always thought the surfer was ment to ride on top of the board not underneath
This is a great shot and well spotted from the 15th floor. I would have been looking out not down
Ginnie: This was especially for YOU, Musketeer! I figured you, of all people, would get a kick outta it.
Great capture Ginnie. I like the diagonal composition here!
Ginnie: I did it for you, Richard.
Cool - the new way of surfing ;-) - Nice framing and good compostition.
Ginnie: We don't always think about how the surfers transport their boards from here to there. Now we know.
Lovely capture. I just hope the surfboard's not too heavy!
Ginnie: I'm guessing they're pretty heavy, Kunle...and clumsy! Thanks.
A unique shot!! Really wonderful.
Ginnie: I loved seeing the world pass by from up there, Ruth!
A bit of humour on a Friday morning is great! I did a double take till I saw that stark white leg.
Ginnie: HA! Like I said, Mary, I couldn't resist it. Have a great weekend. Thanks.
what a great angle.
Ginnie: Thanks, Chantal. It was fun to watch the world pass by from that high up.
Great capture Ginnie
Ginnie: Thank you kindly, Zohre.
Cool perspective - I have no idea how you can stand on one of these, but just looking at this makes me wanna go on holiday....now....one more week then...
Ginnie: WOW. So holiday is coming! It'll be here before you know it, Aksel. Congratulations. Thanks.
A wonderful overhead view with all the right elements of the setting for this shot. Nice composition too. Fine image.
Ginnie: You and I both have overhead views today, Don. Like minds and all, you know.
What a vantage point! Beautiful colors on that surf board. What a wonderful capture.
Ginnie: It was so fun to zoom in on her, Sherri. I didn't even feel like a Peeping Tom.
Amazing perspective and detail. An excellent photograph
Ginnie: You're a sweetheart, Paul. Thank you.
This would not have had this impact side on Ginnie, the looking down angle gives it great strength, especially as it is on a diagonal plane. Have a good flight.
Ginnie: I think you're right, Brian. We don't always get this kind of view, so it feels so different when we do. Thank you for your flight best wishes.
Great capture, Ginnie!
Ginnie: Thank you, Sweetie!
The shooting angle is excellent... and I really like the surf patterns/textures.
richard and the shadows and the walking feet and the foot prints. Oh! ... and I wonder what it looks like in b and w. richard
Ginnie: HA! You tickle me to death, Richard. I bet B&W would be fabulous!
brilliant work
another post card material
Ginnie: You sure know how to make my day, DrAW. Thanks.
it is true, unconventional angle makes this composition very interesting, love it
Ginnie: It's always fun to get a different angle, PT! Thanks.
Where were you to take this one? Up in the tree? Ha! Ha! Oh, for that sand...
Ginnie: Just up on the 15th floor, I swear, Alex.
did you know there are only a few places left where the surfer still needs to use the long board ! I really like this shot Gin, you should try selling this on !
Ginnie: I have no clue about these boards, Johnny, long or short! But I do like the idea of making money on it!
There are so many good things about this one
Ginnie: That makes me smile, Nigel.
Great angle and wonderful composition, Ginnie. I like the blue and also the clarity of the water.
hearty greetings from the brief yet sturdy fixed letter writer, chad 2008.
Ginnie: Dear brief but sturdy and fixed letter-writer, Chad! Thank you!
One word: Perfect!
Ginnie: That one word can make anyone's day, Christophe. Thank you kindly for stopping by and commenting.

Great moment, Ginnie.
Ginnie: Thank you kindly, Gabor, for stopping by and commenting.
Are you just supremely lucky? Great tropical design on the surfboard and wonderful management of the light!
Ginnie: I do count myself as "supremely lucky," Karima, so the answer is indeed YES.
WoW! 200mm of objective you allowed you to make a photo very singular. Very opportune! Bravo!
Ginnie: It was very fun to zoom in on her from up above, José Angel.
I love the tones and the details !!!
Nice point of vue ...
Ginnie: Thank you, Ann. It's goo to see you again.
hi ginnie, wonderful photo. great composition & POV. i like the colours too.
Ginnie: You're a sweetheart, Mandau. Thanks.
Original, la vague et la planche...sur porteur. Les couleurs sont magnifiques.
Ginnie: Merci, Ceanothe!!
Surf's up to her feet, yes. Much need for the hand bag while powdering the nose doing hang ten on a grade 8
Nice one.
Ginnie: HA! You do wonder what she does with the handbag when she's out to sea, Louis.
Great perspective...it sure looks like a weekend add
Ginnie: It was soooooo "WEEKEND," Lina.
Awesome angle!
Ginnie: Thanks a million, Kanyi!
lol, what an EXCELLENT capture...
not just a really good candid shot but it really ticks all the boxes in the getting photography spot on column...
Ginnie: You know how to make my day, Sam. Thanks.
I think the photo itself paid for the stay in that hotel! Incredible shot. I say print and frame this large! Incredible.....
this is gorgeos. From 15th floor balcony it could not be better than this. Very sharp and clear.
Ginnie: I felt like a voyeur, CISI.
200 mm....15th floor...Beautiful and impressing result!
Ginnie: It was a joy to behold, Fausto.
