The Sunset Hour
Here's another week of impressions from Hawaii when we were there recently for my daughter's wedding on June 1.
The wedding ceremony had ended and the professional photos were being taken on the beach while the sun was setting. Talk about an idyllic wedding venue! May you have as great a weekend, if possible! [Today I'm in Amsterdam.]

this is a perfect shot. happy weekend.
Ginnie: Thank you kindly, Maria, for stopping by and commenting. That means the world to me.
Ginnie this is fab, excellent photo
Ginnie: You're a sweetheart, Vintage. I hope you're doing better and better with every passing day. I sure am.
A gem, Ginnie.
My favourite of this excellent series.
Ginnie: Awwww. That means a lot coming from you, Ray. Thanks.
Oh, so beautiful, Ginnie! Have a wonderful weekend.
Ginnie: You, too, Mary Beth, and thanks!
It was very good that this photograph... warmly the sun rays of a boat wobbled soft on the small wave.
Regards from Yogyakarta Indonesia.
Ginnie: It was a magic moment for me, Bram. Thanks.
Great colors and compositional balance!
Ginnie: Thank you, Martin.
Breathe taking beauty. Words fail me.
Ginnie: Thank you, Sherri. Now you know part of why that wedding was so special!
Ginnie, Great way to send us off for the weekend. You've taken me back there again and I'll tell you - with or without the cranes - it's still my favorite paradise and you've captured all of it beautifully! Thank you.....
Ginnie: I know this is your favorite paradise, Judy. One day we'll all be back there together again! Thank you always for your kind words!!
wow! les couleurs de ce soleil sont splendides. tu as capturé l'essence du monde!
Ginnie: You're a sweetheart, O-P. Merci!
This is suberb Ginnie, must have been a great day for the family, as the sun goes down here you spotted this cracker well done. The cloud above the mast is perfectly placed.
Ginnie: It was a day/evening never to be forgotten, Scotia. Thank you.
it sure is an awesome venue. I also love the image.
Ginnie: It was spectacular, Kanyi! Now you know.
WOW, geweldige foto, de ondergaande zon geeft dat prachtige licht, I can get on this boat and sail to the end of the world into this fabulous sunset, wow some way to start off the weekend, hope you wil have a great weekend too...
Ginnie: Now you know why this place was so exciting to us!! But you're right. I would love to have a few nights and days sailing on that boat! You can be the captain!
Perfect end to the day. Wonderful contrasting colours and I love that cloud, but find the central horizon a little disturbing!
Ingrid
Ginnie: Oh, I know, Ingrid! That horizon was the almost the death of me because of that boat. In the end I decided a centered horizon was better than one a bit "off," not fitting the rule of thirds. Sorry for the "disturbance" but thanks for your comment.
It's just beautiful !!!
I love the colors, the light, the subject ... boats ... And the atmosphere ... I'm waiting for important results today and it makes me feel more zen ... Thank you Ginnie !!!
Ginnie: I hope you have stars in your eyes (your post) and can sail away into the sunset after your results tonight! Thanks, Ann.
PARADISE. You knew that anyway!!
Hope you have a great day and weekend
Ginnie: Yes, Tracy! Paradise.
I've seen things yesterday and today that have put me into another Paradise...Kindrdijk's 19 windmills yesterday and many sheep today here in Astrid's "backyard." I am one lucky lady.
Yeah not a bad place to get hitched
Lovely picture Ginnie
Ginnie: HA! We sure did see a LOT of weddings that entire week, Bill. I can see why.
My fave too, lighting is ace, and the cloud on top of the mast
Ginnie: Thank you, kind sir. It always amazes me what images work the most for fellow photographers!
A breathtaking beautiful photo- the light is so soft and warm, the atmosphere so silent and peaceful, the boats may be symbols of life and future filled with many wishes and plans -good luck and sometimes "eternal happiness"!
Whlie looking at the sailing-boat in the bachground I would like to cite a poem of Conrad Ferdinand Meyer Zwei Segel Zwei Segel erhellend Die tiefblaue Bucht! 1. Two sails flashing bright on the royal-blue bay! Two sails fill out tight and sail calmly away! 2. When one in the breezes moves hither and yon, The other with ease as its shadow responds. 3. If one wants to hasten, the other goes fast, If one asks for quiet, its companion has rest. (http://www.geocities.com/cigneto/thctxt/en/twosailss1.html) A fine weekend for you, too (and for your knee!)
Ginnie: You, Philine, know how to hit the hammer on the nail! Ontzettend bedankt!!
This scene you have here is just breathtaking, and so relaxing! The warm tones from the sky and the cool feel from the water.
p.s. I hope to see your origami one way when you are done with them. GL!
Ginnie: It was very relaxing to be there, Brian. Thank you. Some day I'll get those origami cranes put together!
A breath taking image Ginnie. The colours are splendid!
Ginnie: It still brings back much warmth in my memories, Richard. Thank you.
Have a great weekend Ginnie!
Ginnie: You, too, Richard. Thanks.
Ginnie, nice warm colors, good for a postcard.
Ginnie: The entire occasion was like a "postcard" for me, Klaus! Thank you.
warm, warm, warm.
Ginnie: It definitely was, Ruth. Thank you.
This is a great shot, the colours are awesome, the water looks so inviting, but if I had to be picky it would be the central horizon, I think perhaps shifting it one way or the other would make a good shot even better.
Ginnie: You and Ingrid both are on the same page, Pedraig, so you have company. This is what I told her: "That horizon was the almost the death of me because of that boat. In the end I decided a centered horizon was better than one a bit "off," not fitting the rule of thirds. Sorry for the "disturbance" but thanks for your comment." Ahhhh. Rules are meant to be broken, I guess?
Nice shot Ginnie
Ginnie: Thanks, Chris.
Beautiful colours and composition Ginnie
Ginnie: Thank you kindly, Aussie.
What a wonderful sky and a clear, sharp horizon. Great !
Ginnie: It was a magical moment/place, Carsten. Thank you.
I can just feel the warm sun on my skin. Beautiful shot Ginnie.
Ginnie: That's exactly what it felt like, Scarlet. Good to see you again. Hartelijke groeten.
Great looking boat Ginnie, well lit by the sunset.
Ginnie: Thank you kindly, Les.
Interesting shot Ginnie!
Ginnie: Thank you, Zohre.
Ah that's more like it Ginnie - fantastic. Makes me very jealous as I'm sat here looking out at the rain!
Ginnie: Awwwwww. Well, I happen to love the rain, Bernie, but I can't imagine what it would have been like in Hawaii. Probably more tropical...with the sun shining right afterwards. Thanks.
Well, you know this is one fab image in everyway, but that horizon line is just GAH!!. Those orange sherbet tones and that utterly perfect silo of the sailboat float my boat
Ginnie: HA! You make the third person who doesn't like that horizon, Karima. I'll say the say thing I told the others: "That horizon was the almost the death of me because of that boat. In the end I decided a centered horizon was better than one a bit "off," not fitting the rule of thirds. Sorry for the "disturbance" but thanks for your comment." Ahhhh. Rules are meant to be broken, I guess?
This image has a marvelous sun quality. I like the subject matter including the sailboat far in the distance. Wonderful color.
Ginnie: Thank you, Don. You're the first person to mention that sailboat on the horizon.
Wonderful lighting. Makes the scene seem so peaceful.
Hope you have a good weekend, too!
Ginnie: It was so very peaceful, Caryn. Can you imagine the married couple having those memories for the rest of their lives?!
Picturit postcard quality, Ginnie.
Ginnie: AWWWWWWW. What a nice way to say that, Chad. I'll have to let Astrid see that.
This is a gem. It evokes so may thoughts and emtions
Ginnie: Thank you kindly, Bandoras, for stopping by and commenting! That means a lot.
beautiful colouration in the scene Ginnie, truly a shot from an exotic place. mal
Ginnie: It was a fantastic wedding in an exotic place, Mal.
Very good capture, Ginnie! Great composition! I like this kind of image!
Ginnie: And you're a sweetheart, José Angel. Gracias! Have a great weekend.
The color is stunning. I really like how the sail boat in the distance adds so much depth to this photo.
Ginnie: I'm glad you like the sailboat, Helen, because I did make a decision not to clone it out.
Beautiful sunset. I think I need to go to Hawaii!
Ginnie: You will LOVE Hawaii if ever you can go, Marcie. There's nowhere like it in the world! Thanks.
What a beautiful shot. The sky is an amazing colour. Superb !
Absolutely breath takingly beautiful, Ginnie!
with this i am well pleased
No, No No, Gah was a compliment. Like wow. I like the horizon very much thank you, and the colors, and the rule of thirds is meant to be a baseline that should be broken often, especially by photographers of your caliber!
Sailing off into a golden sunset - a great weekend to you too.
Lovely photo Ginnie, the repeat shape of the boat on the horizon with that in the foreground is ideal, take it out and it doesn't work quite so well.
Perfect end to a lovely day for all then Ginnie, beautiful scene
Gorgeous, Ginnie. What a beautiful view. I love it. I'm glad to be back (working hard these days). As luck would have it, I posted a Hawaii sunset shot today.
Great minds think alike. All of my best, Kay
Perfect symytry between sea and sky in this well framed shot. Love it! Sailing off into the sunset...
Ginnie: Thank you, Alex. Sometimes symmetry is the only thing that will work for my images, so thanks.
The big cloud makes this an interesting and a little bit funny composition...in a good way
Ginnie: HA! I just take them as thry come and get a few smiles along the way, too.
love the strong contrast between the water and the sky, beautiful capture
Ginnie: Thank you, kind sir!
OMG, Ginnie - this is simply superb. Unbelievable - too gud to navigate off from this page! Now this one becomes my favorite from your collection
Ginnie: You really know how to make my day, Thomas!!!! Thank you.
I'm not bothered a bit by the centered horizon line, but I am by the tightness of the image. The composition is too straighforward, you could've done a better job, dear. You proved it many times before. I guess the panoramic view with a catamaran off center would do the job, and more of this gorgeious sky and ocean wouldn't hurt either. Well, it's too late now.
Ginnie: Yes, I'm afraid it's too late now, Viktor. Actually, the boat was too close to fit it in in landscape mode. I wanted the full mast included, so this was my only choice with the lens I had. So it is what it is, my friend! Oh well.
Very strong yellow and blue. It was have been one very special wedding to attend to.
Ginnie: Never to be forgotten, Monica!
