wow, you do these shots to perfection Ginnie. The clouds and the bike rider are added bonuses on this.
Ginnie: At first I was disappointed about the bike rider, Aussie, but later I decided she did add something to the image, especially scale! Thanks.
Ginnie, this is spectacular in every way. Definitely a favorite.
Ginnie: You know how to make my day, Sherri. Thank you!
Beautiful image, Ginnie.
Sure looks cold there. The et pavement and the heavy clouds fill the shot perfectly.
Ginnie: I think it was still cold, Ray, come to think of it. And it had just rained. My kind of weather.
The sky, the light and the reflection on the ground, good composition Ginnie
Ginnie: It reminds me of when they take car photos for commercials, Klaus, and they always wet down the pavement.
The lady on the bike must have been making a dash for it in between the showers Ginnie
I lke the lighting but most of all I love the warm colour in the window and the tree in the pot. Lovely shot great composition as usual
Ginnie: Yes, Tracy, you are so right about that lady....and observant! You are so good! Thanks.
tu arrives toujours a faire des photos excellentes
Ginnie: And YOU are always a sweetheart, O-P, about your comments!
This is nice, Ginnie, and is that Astrid on the bike?
Ginnie: NOOOOO, Chad! Astrid is much cuter and younger than that!
A very nice angle you have chosen in order to show us this charming old "stadje" with such a lovely "sfeertje". After the rain the colours look fresher and cleaner than before. Wim may be happy to live in this town along the IJssel, this beautiful river!
Ginnie: You were so right, Philine, about this being a charming city to visit. Next time we'll come to see YOUR village in Germany, not all that far away. And YOU, too, of course.
Very Nice , I Like the composition & colors.
Nice perspective , nice clouds & nice reflection . Great shot.
Ginnie: Thanks a million, Saeed. This street was one of the first shots I got of the village...and it just happened to be Wim's street!
This is almost like a painting Ginnie, what sort of processing did you use?
Ginnie: Thank you kindly, Etomi. I'm sure I used the PS Multiply layer to deepen/enrich the image...kinda like a "cheap" HDR. This is my kind of sky and weather!
Beautiful shot Ginnie. The lighting is exceptional here!
Ginnie: The second I saw this, Richard, I stopped dead in my tracks and snapped the picture! It was stunning to see at the end of the long alley.
Great combo - the sky and the beautiful light on the buildings. I also like the bike rider and the orange window
Ginnie: It took my breath away when I turned the corner onto the street, Aksel. I immediately stopped dead in my tracks and took the picture. Thank you.
Wonderful shot Ginnie. Taken, I guess, just after a shower of rain with great light on the wet road. I think I would have cropped this into a "portrait" shape. The right to just to the left of that light on th wall and the left to the edge of the building where it tuns the corner. Just a thought
Ginnie: I think it rained off and on a bit all day, Bill, so I was lucky to get the sun at that exact moment.
I had thought about your portrait crop...and even took a shot that way, as described. But in the end, I went with this one because of the feeling I had when I first turned the corner onto this street and saw the light at the end of the long "alley." THAT'S the look I wanted to capture. But I do appreciate your idea, because I had it, too.
looks like you had a good trip Ginnie!
Ginnie: Oh yes, Paul! We haven't had a bad trip yet, even with rain!
Thank you Ginnie! A nice shot of my neighbour's house. It was a rainy day indeed, but we had a very good time with you and Astrid.
Ginnie: Our memories are just splendid, Wim! We'll never forget them. I can see you standing there in my eye's mind.
Hey, doesn't Harm Edens live there?
Ginnie: According to Astrid, YES!
We had a very memorable day that day
Wim said it right; we had a great day, the most impressive was that we were able to be in the workshop of Wim where all of his stunning work is created and as extra to see the beautiful paintings of his charming wife. @ Chantal, yes Harm Edens lives in Zutphen, not in this house though. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zutphen
Ginnie: We have so many good memories, Astrid, and this one is definitely one of the best! So, where are we going next? Did you say Kinderdijk???
Beautiful light in this shot. The sky is fantastic.
Ginnie: Thanks a million, Mary.
This is a nice shot. Interesting architecture and sky and the woman on the "fiets" ... cool.
Ginnie: The second I saw it, Carsten, it took my breath away. I was so glad later that it looked like what I had first seen. Thanks.
Colour composition, fab buildings super photo Ginnie
Ginnie: You're a sweetheart, Vintage! Thanks.
Nice shot Ginnie ..
Ginnie: Thank you kindly, Shakara!
You know, I love the elements here! The verticality, the bricks, the gables, the cyclist, the wet street. But what tops it off for me is that gorgeous sky. It looks like it might rain again!
Ginnie: I am such a glutton for skies like this, Ruth. Where did that come from? Mom???
This could be a film set with Miss Marples cycling into view.
It's got all the film set ingredients fine verticals, wet streets and clean light. richard
Ginnie: HA! I never thought of that, Richard, but you are absolutely right about Miss Marples.
This was always going to be a good shot Ginnie with the wet road and strong lighting but the lady on the bike turns it into a very good shot.
Ginnie: So now I'm REALLY glad I kept her in the shot, Brian.
This looks like a great place for a photo hunt. The warm glow in the bottom window is a nice touch.
Ginnie: It was a great start to a fabulous day, Martin.
I like that you waited for the women on the bike to enter the scene before you took the picture.
I like the sky in this one too
Ginnie: Well, I didn't exactly wait for her, Magnus. She just happened to be there. But now that I've seen here several times, I'm really glad she showed up.
Fantastic composition. The bike and the recent shower of rain add volumes to an already super image. well done.
Ginnie: You're a sweetheart, Scotia. Thank you.
fabulous shot Ginnie, love the contrast in the various buildings and the lady on the bike is the icing on the cake for me
Ginnie: She has become the icing for me as well, Tim! Thank you kindly.
These old towns and inner city cores can have the most interesting traffic situations. And here comes Astrid on her bicycle.
Excellent picture.
Ginnie: It's not Astrid, Louis, who's younger and cuter, as I told someone else.
I love this. The lady on the bike makes this scene and the red-orange in the window is terrific pop of color amongst the white and cream buildings.
Ginnie: Thank a million, Karima. You're a sweetheart.
Great light Ginnie, these old streets provide wonderful photo opportunities.
Ginnie: Yes, they do, Les. It was a wonder to behold for me. Thanks.
This is a wonderful little slice of Holland Ginnie - thank you
Ginnie: You are so welcome, Chris.
OOoh, that's nice Ginnie, a place I'd love to explore
Ginnie: You'd love it, Ellie. Thanks.
Another great shot, Ginnie! I don't understand the perfect, sharp focus near and far with F4.0 though! That's pretty shallow DOF for such clarity.
Ginnie: I don't understand it either, Patrushka! I think the DOF has to do more with how close you are to the subject, not the F stop?? The closer you are to your subject, regardless of F stop, the shallower the DOF. The farther away makes everything in focus!
Sorry, that last comment was from me, Patrushka, on my husband's computer.
Ginnie: HA! Your husband sure knows how to spin a yarn, Patrushka!
wonderful architectual shot. I like tones here and the lighting. also the bike give a good scale.
Ginnie: Thank you kindly, Arash.
oh perfect!!!!! love the angle at which you took this one.....
Ginnie: Awwww. Thank you, Moi!
A lovely place! The game of lines gives a nice rythm to the image.
Ginnie: I was totally captivated by the scene, Still! Thanks.
...and no one "hunts" like you...discovering charm and enchantment on each and every corner of the world...and this one is close to become one of my favourites. (The lady on the bike just did it
Ginnie: Maybe some day I will find YOUR corner of the world, Lina. I would really like that.
An interesting little urban corner captured with your usual technical precision. Nice one G.
Ginnie: You're a sweetheart, Ron. Thank you kindly.
